Commission for Trekroner Church, Roskilde, Denmark
In 2019, artists Henrik Plenge Jakobsen, Lea Porsager, and Alexander Tovborg contributed to the artistic decoration of Trekroner Church, with Henrik Plenge Jakobsen serving as consultant and producer. The artworks seamlessly integrate with the church's architecture and functions, reflecting the historical tradition of incorporating art into sacred spaces. The project was developed in close collaboration with Rørbæk and Møller Architects, the church's pastors, and the Himmelev Church Council.

Floor: The Trekroner Pentagon by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen
The handcrafted brick floor features a unique pattern formed by pentagon-shaped tiles specially designed for this project. This particular pentagon, discovered by mathematicians at Washington University in Seattle in 2016, represents a novel geometric form. The design merges modern geometry with traditional materials and techniques historically used for church floors in Denmark and the Levant.
Northern Cross by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen
This aluminium cross is coated with palladium, a corrosion-resistant precious metal distinct from gold and platinum. The cross features five circular holes connected by engraved lines, depicting the North Cross constellation, visible in the local night sky during Christmas.
Altar by Alexander Tovborg
Carved from oak, the altar takes the form of two hands reaching forward, evoking the tradition of woodcarving found in Norwegian stave churches.
Baptismal Font: Credo by Lea Porsager
The baptismal font is crafted from South African sodalite, a blue stone with a cubic, space-centered crystal structure that echoes the geometry of the church's tile floor. Porsager also created complementary bronze pieces, including a baptismal dish featuring a fishing mark at its base, a baptismal pot, and an altar chalice.
Window: Sigmar by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen
The window incorporates slices of agate stones sourced from Brazil and Congo, reflecting the cellular structures and mineral forms that inspired the church’s architectural design.
Entrance Door by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen (Installed 2024)
The church’s exterior door features a mosaic made of sliced agate stones from Brazil. The door handles, cast in silver bronze, were modeled after vine stems found in a vineyard on the Røsnæs peninsula.
